All ATC continuously captures every operational frequency across the National Airspace System — ATC, ramp control, ground handling, company operations, and FBO — converts it to time-aligned machine transcript, and makes it queryable in seconds by callsign, station, frequency, phraseology, or time window.
ATC voice is recorded facility by facility, retained in incompatible formats, and released only on request. Ramp control, ground handling, company operations, and FBO frequencies are rarely retained in any systematic, searchable form at all — and that is where much of an airline's day is actually coordinated. All ATC treats the whole airband as one continuous corpus: captured at the source, normalised, transcribed, and exposed through one interface and one API.
A managed receiver network holds assigned frequencies open around the clock, with per-channel squelch and signal metrics recorded alongside the audio. Capture does not depend on operator action, and there is no gap between transmissions.
General-purpose speech models fail on airband audio: clipped VHF, heavy accent variety, overlapping transmissions, and a controlled vocabulary that looks nothing like conversational speech. Off the ATC frequencies it gets harder, not easier — ramp and company traffic abandons standard phraseology for local shorthand, gate numbers, and crew names. Recognition is tuned and evaluated separately per frequency class.
